14 Years Ago Today

It was 14 years ago today that we lost one of the greatest human beings, Howard Morris.

I will never forget this date for as long as I’m around.  May 21, 2005 is historic.

He was so very special.  I can’t describe with words the gravity of this loss.  For me, 14 years is as good as 14 minutes.

He loved the show, loved Ernest T. Bass, and he loved all of you, his fans. This site was a very special place for him.  His creativity and his interactivity with you was and still is so very special.

My mission is to keep this site alive in his memory, and for you, Howard’s dear fans.

I love you, dad. —>Always have, always will.

David

A sad anniversary for sure David. Your dad was and still is an American treasure. I’d still like to record that story you told me about your windshield some time! Hope you are well!

David, your dad made me laugh so hard when I was a kid, I’m 57 years old now, he’s still making me laugh! His humor was pure Genius. I was raised in Hilliard FL a country town, only one red lite, 3000 people, so I related to your dads Character well. Thanks for making me smile today with great memories! I’m gonna throw a rock “Promise” in memory of your dad today. Till we all throw Rocks in Heaven together, God Bless Youand your Family and keeping the memories going, Gene Ellis, Proffesional Rock Thrower?

I think I left a comment a while ago–our fathers were in the same barracks during WWII. I always found him so hilarious on the Andy Griffith Show. I probably told you this story before, but just in case I didn’t–my father came in the room when we were watching the show and he got pretty emotional as he recognized your father and went on about how it was “Howie Morris” and got nostalgic remembering the camaraderie. I remember seeing your dad in the movie “Way, Way Out” and how great he was in that!

I know this day must be a sad moment for you I don’t even know you but I lost my dad three years ago April 29, 2016. A day I’ll always remember. Your dad was the greatest my grandmother lived to be 80 some years old and died in 1993, and Ernest T Bass was her favorite person in the world on the Andy Griffith show she would laugh so hard she would cry he deafly was one of a kind he falls in the same category with curly from the Three Stooges, or Laurel and Hardy he was one of a kind no one could be like him. He was often imitated but never duplicated. I hope you are as proud of him as I am of him and getting to know him on the Andy Griffith show I am 60 years old now and can still hear it’s me it’s me it’s ERNEST T! It’s still hard I know, have a blessed day. Chip Bellamy, Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

Wow, just saw your Dad listed as “Director” on opening credits of a ‘Hogan’s Heroes’ episode and immediately had to confirm is is THEE Howard Morris – which brought me here; such a multi-talented genius who left quite a mark on this world!
Been a huge fan all my life (born in 1960), from his cartoon voices to tv appearances, it has always been a great joy to see your father on tv, or hear his voice on cartoons and it always will be!
Thank you for this website. God bless your Dad, you and your entire family!

As all the others, I too have always been a fan of Ernest T. Bass. I’ve watched Andy Griffith since I was a child in the 60’s & the episodes with Ernest are by far my favorites. I knew Howard was also a writer, but I didn’t realize he also directed or was a voice in so many of the cartoons I also watched as a kid – or that he was in all those original McDs commercials! Through his work he will live forever, and comedy will always be better for it.

This is long over due. Please forgive me. Your daddy made me want to be an actor. Aside from his talent as an actor, I saw HOWARD MORRIS listed as director. Just wanted you to know, I wish I could have shook his hand, as I wished beyond comprehension, and I’m so envious, you are lucky to have known him!

    Pruitt out!!!! It’s me, it’s Ernest T!!!!!

What a pleasure to read your recollections! My husband and brother occasionally quote from the Mountain Wedding, and I’ve come to appreciate the joy it brings each time they do it.
A friend recently gave us a DVD of High Anxiety, which we had never seen! In between generations I guess.
“Hey! That’s Ernest T. Bass!” So, that led to internet searches and this email. What a pleasure to get to know more about Howard Morris!!! We are now able to supply interesting trivia in any conversation. Thanks for keeping this going.
